What made you visit my website?
This is like the question I ask people who come to my session for the first time: “What brought you here today?" Whatever the reason might be, welcome!
On this website, I would like to provide information on psychology and mental health from various aspects.
Dr Miyuki Ono
I am a Clinical Psychologist with a PhD in Clinical Psychology. I am a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Japanese Psychological Association. I provide therapy in Japanese and English.
My passion is both research and clinical practice in the field of psychology.
My research interests are in the areas of cognition and memory. In particular, I am interested in research topics, such as how individuals with a history of complex childhood trauma evaluate their sense of self and how such evaluation affects their cognition and memory, and ultimately, psychological well-being. I am also interested the area of cognition and memory from neuropsychology perspectives.
In my clinical practice, I use an eclectic approach to provide individualised therapy, which is derived from a variety of approaches such as: Schema Therapy; Polyvagal Theory; Internal Family Systems (IFS); Mindfulness; Self-Compassion; Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy; Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapy; and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
